I am a Social Sciences teacher with LEARNZ.

Job Description

I organise geography and social studies field trips to gold mines, a coal mine, the biodiesel factory and the ballet!

Each field trip has background pages so that everyone knows where we're going and what we are going to see. These pages are linked to the curriculum and I.m happy to make video, take photos and organise audioconferences with experts about anything related to your programme in the classroom.

There are also activities associated with the background pages. I would welcome any other ideas that teachers have to share.

On location I get to work with the experts. We talk live to schools during audioconferences. My daily diary is posted each night. There are new images and video every morning of the trip for you to experience in the classroom.

Time in the Job

Part-time for a couple of years and now full time.

Favourite Part of Job

Meeting passionate and interesting workers on their turf, visiting a variety of places in N.Z. and the explosions and big machines are definitely a draw card!

Qualifications

Bachelor of Parks and Recreation Management (Lincoln),
Diploma Secondary Teaching.

Experience Before LEARNZ

HOD Geography and Social Science teacher, Environmental Educator with ECan, writing curriculum based resources.

Learning, my family and messy garden.
